Found this bronze GAR medal today detecting a turn of the century homesite.

Serial number on it is P18084.

The P denotes the Commander-in-Chief of the GAR at the time of award. That's all I can find.

Anyone have any more info on it?
 
Nice find!

Serial number doesn't mean much it's more of an authentication number.

Anyway with the age of the homesite you may be able to narrow it down to a possible best guess year based on the Commaner In Chief with last name that begins with P

Fantastic... was just down in Gettysburg and think I saw one like it in the National Museum.. nice find!

Congrats on your cool find!! I had found one last year and from your post I didnt realize they had numbers on the side...here is mine.
