I would like to know if I should seal the wooden handle with anything to help it resist the elements?
I am new to water hunting and am not sure what to expect. I have been reading a lot and am getting ideas but am getting the handle today and want to get it set up asap.
Thanks.

I didn't but I am using a post hole digger handle.

Sealing your wood handle

This will do the job for you. Give it a few coats to start with.

Spar would be awesome but... I didn’t have any so dunked it a few times into some stain I happened to have. it’s a $8? Shovel handle....

The price is not the only thing to consider. If your handle rots and snaps during a hunt you are done hunting. My advice.....take the Carbon Fiber plunge and be done with it. The weight alone made me do it.

I use a hole fiberglass hole handle....$20 and has lasted me a good 7 years now. If you use a wood handle....much like a baseball bat...ensure the direction of the grain is correct.
