This weekend I spent two days metal detecting and socialising at Glemsford in Suffolk. This is between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds.
I didn't camp there, as I only live just over an hour away, but there must have been over 200 people there. The weather was fantastic, although this has made the fields very dry.
On the Saturday I met Simon, Doug was also there, but unfortunately didn't get to meet him.
Simon and me
Fancy Dress
Steve and Daniel, from Croatia
A "Soldino" Michele Steno (1400-1413) These were Silver hammered
coins minted in Venice, and brought over by sailors. Often referred to
as "Galley Halpennies". 13mm in diameter
Probably part of a B.24 Liberator, a couple crashed in the area
Cast a Giant Shadow
Plenty of room for all
What do we have here ?
Lovely Countryside. My wife came along on the Sunday and took lots of pictures
Rose Farthing. A fairly common find, dating back to the time of Charles I (about 1650)
Roughly 10mm in diameter
Sunny View
Not far behind me, a youngster had dug down and found a Roman Lantern
A beautiful find.
Stubble field
Most people avoided this field, but I had a go. Didn't find much apart from the
aircraft parts.
