i'm going on vacation to samana, st. thomas, tortola, and great stirrup cay in january. i was wondering if anyone knew of good places to metal detect there that would not interfere with local laws. any advice would be helpful. thanks
Depends a lot on local laws.... call ahead and see what they say. Normally, (and I lived in the Carribean for years, Barbados and Puerto Rico), there are no restrictions on beach hunting. I still would check though. Most islands leave the beaches as free access (do not want to prevent locals from using beaches) so it is likely it will be the same where you are headed. RickO
I've been to St Thomas and John. I would be more concerned about safety. Stay in well travelled area's and on the more popular beaches. Ask the locals for their advice, they are usually very helpful.
