Tumbling gold rings

I have a 14k diamond ring that has been in the saltwater for a while.
I did electrolysis on it and it helped remove 90% of the tarnish. It still looks old and lacks any luster.
This ring has crevices that I don't want to deal with using a rotary tool and compound.
I'll be receiving 2lbs of jewelers shot and burnishing compound soon.
What's the consensus with tumbling a diamond ring?

I say go for it, you might lose the diamond though. Just be sure to check the slurry for the rock afterwards. Nice finds! Keep us posted on the process!

The ring may crack in pieces. Sometimes I put gold testing solution on the rings and let it sit for 10-30 seconds and then wipe with a cloth.

Or take it to any reputable jeweler, they don’t charge much at all for a thorough cleaning. I think Kay jewelers charges like $10 and they can reshape it for you. There’s more value in a pretty, clean ring than there is scrap value.

Some rings are ugly, but not mentioning any names.

1: Soak in CLR for 48 hours.
2: Soak in 14K testing acid for a few minutes.
3: Take to a local jeweler for a cheap 1 time cleaning.

Do not tumble that ring with a medium it will cause damage.
If you tumble use CLR and water.
