I finally got some time off from work & hit the fields to dig some civil war relics. I went back to one of my spots & got into some. Plenty of lead there. I think I dug a martingale heart that is bent & melted. Or it could just be a chunk of melted brass. Anyway I found it in with all of the other stuff. The weekend has started off good. Thanks for looking. HH

second day

I went back to where I was yesterday. It was cold & windy. I didn't last long but managed some keepers.

Thanks buddy the weather was terrible today. 28° & 20 to 40 mph gusts. We're going to a good spot tomorrow. I've only hunted it one time & had a very good day. I'll post my finds tomorrow after I'm done. Go get some relics guys. HH & good luck

Wow , hope you have a sturdy belt . With that niche weight in your pockets you could hunt threw a tornado ! Sweet report ! Great picks , HH Dew

Man I bet it felt good to get out and dig those. Had a cold winter this year for sure. Keep at it and I can't wait to see what's next out of the dirt.

Thanks guys. We got into it today. I dug another Prussian & a couple of those .577" sharps. We all dug some relics. Now the weekend is done back to work. Thanks for looking. HH

Got a maybe dumb question for those of you that are finding CW bullets. Most of them look relatively undamaged as though they were not fired. Is that the actual case? Did they simply fall out a solder's pocket? Curious minds would like to know. Cheers and HH.

Most of the bullets I find are discarded or "dropps". The bullets were made up into a paper cartridge. If it tore or got wet they would throw them out. wet black powder doesn't burn. If my life depended on my ammo being right I would have gotten new all the time. the troops that were where I'm hunting at were rained on just about every day they were there. Thanks for asking.
