Searched an older church this afternoon. Interesting finds!! A big 1973 Kenyan Coin and another one I don't have an ID on yet. Please help. A cute silver dolphin ring and silver airplane charm. Then... I dug 3 wheats in the same hole along with a badly rusted penny shaped thing. I think it's a 1943 steel penny. Cool. Thanks for looking!

Make you wonder why difference race of people was at that church,,, Kenyan,,, Japanese,,, the ring I'm guessing white,,, :?:

It was an LDS church. We have a large missionary program all over the world. I'm sure someone brought the coins back from missionary service.

Fantastic hunt there, SW! Very cool mix of finds, especially with the foreign coins and potential steel cent!

There’s little doubt you got yourself a steel cent...considering the dates of the other wheats in the hole with it and the matching size, that’s pretty darn good circumstantial evidence  Seems the only way to find and positively ID a steel cent while MDing is to bring it out of the hole with other coins. I actually had the same find a couple months ago; 3 old wheats and 1 wheat sized rusty glob! Easy way to help confirm it’s a steel cent - put a magnet to it. The steel cent was the only US coin minted for circulation that can be picked up with a magnet. Cool, unique find!

The 727 charm is some quick silver, too! Keep swinging that site - fun stuff there!

Thanks! Btw that rusty penny sized glob sticks to a magnet. :D
