Hi All

Got myself a harbor freight tumbler for xmas. I had my year's clad sitting in a can and decided to try Mikey48's recipe for cleaning.

I did two batches of pennies and two batches of other clad. I am more than satisfied with the results. I even found 4 wheats mixed into the clad pennies that i couldn't discern because they were so dirty.

Here are some before and after pics for your enjoyment. The first try with silver was a little darker than i wanted so I upped the ammonia from a smidge to a double smidge and got a much shinier result. Pennies were fine on the first try. silver

Hi Mr. C :tiphat:

Your cleaned coins look good ! Time to hit the Bank or Coin Machine ! :money:

Guess you'll pitch Cents with missing edges, etc.; hiding them in penny rolls wouldn't be nice of course. :giggle: (Just kidding !)

Do you have the single or dual-barrel tumbler ?

Cheers!

the ammonia on the second cycle really did help. My pics were taken witha potato, so they look almost new in real life.

I got the harbor freight 6lb per can dual tumbler. Little small, but truthfully did my entire years worth of clad in a short time.

I put ammonia in with my clad...not my pennies. With my clad. ..I put enough amonia to just cover the coins...couple drops of dawn dish detergent. ..and an inch to inch and a half of water. ..tumble 12 to 24 hours

Mr. C,

I assume you meant to say "I got the harbor freight 3lb per can dual tumbler." Check the outside end of the box. ;)
