Thats kind of how I got into MD'ing. Wanted to for years (literally decades since a guy found a silver 1/2 dollar in my yard) but never did it until I got laid off. Being with in 10 years of retirement (actually closer than 10) it was hard to find a job so I wandered a bit doing substitute teaching and the like. I had plenty of time on my hands so jumped at the chance to start detecting. That was about 5 years ago and now I wish I had started a Looooooong time before that.

I think you're gonna love it and probably drive the family nuts with all the treasure hunting stories. Good luck and happy hunting.
