Granted, I rarely use cash, but when I do I have started looking for ☆ notes....I never see them but got my first two this week.

Is there any value above face here? Just curious.

You may be able to get some premium, but it won't be much in circulated conditions. Check ebay and see if you can find any bills in similar condition.

Nice! I always save them when I find them also. I have about 30 $1, 5 $5 and 1 $20 star notes. Still have not found any $10 star notes.

From what I've seen, only uncirculated or very old star notes get much if anything over face. I have about 3 or 4k face in them, probably 300+ notes in all. I just keep them as an emergency savings. I don't expect them to increase in value, actually given inflation, they are probably worth less than when I started saving them. The ones that are really beat, torn, or written on I just spend.

Circulated star notes and even circulated silver certificates have little if any value above face. Crisp "radar" notes are collectible if you can find them. A radar note is one whose serial number reads the same backwards as it does forwards.

I'm surprised to know that silver certificates have little to no value above face. How about gold certificates? Same boat?

Not sure about gold certificates but they are far more scarce than silver certificates so I'd definitely hold onto any you have. If a silver certificate is in CRISP uncirculated condition then it definitely has value above face.

If that's the case, sounds like a good reason to withdraw a bunch of money every day from your atm to get those crisp bills. :)
