I joined the Bandwagon

I worked in Nigeria for four years on a 4-week rotation.
We used to say that you can't go more than five minutes without seeing someone, military or not, carrying an AK-47....and pickup trucks with the back full of armed soldiers or a mounted machine gun.
We would have to be escorted by armed military from our living quarters to work, and even on trips to the store!
Fun times...
 
I visit Quintana Roo several times per year and heavily armed police officers running with their lights on is standard practice in that part of Mexico. They may be increasing their show of force a bit as the murder rate has spiked 100% in the last year alone, but it's still nothing compared to our lovely City of Detroit. [emoji38]
I might get my missus a brochure in that case..

Lol, reminds me of my little town. The guards were to protect us guys from the local women..
