A Great Method For Cleaning Your Buffalo/Shield Nickels!

This method will remove the black/red. I gave it a shot on a war nickle I had and it cleaned up pretty nice. After cleaning it left the nickle a kinda of a slate/dull color. Just don't leave them in the solution to long. I would say just long enough to get cleaned up. ":what ever amount of time that is" Just keep an eye on them. Don't clean any coins that you might want to sale!

Dave is correct... if the coin has any value, beyond just being 'neat', do NOT use this method... cleaning kills all collector value. RickO

I just found a V nickle !!

I was out with a buddy near a VERY old house and found a V nickle 1 inch down next to a big tree.. I cant make out none of the marking except the V with the wreaths... I have to clean it to try and see a date.. I hope its from the 1800s as this will be my first.. The coin is BADLY tarnished and I just put it in the sauce and Now I am hoping for the best.. I am new to the game for the most part and wondering if the whole electrolysis is bad for the coins too?
