It was lost on 7/13 and one of my FB buddies contacted me on 7/14 and on 7/15 I went and looked for it. Rick told me he had very little info, just that it was Turkish gold and 3 bands. The guy who lost it said he lost it "behind the Chateau Resort" So I went and searched the dry sand to no avail. It was just last week that I got the Lost My Stuff report and saw it on there and turns out it was lost IN THE WATER, not on the dry sand.

So today I got probably the best water conditions of the summer so far, clean, clear, and calm. I had no idea where he lost it, just that he had lost it somewhere between the shore and the sandbar. That made the search area about 150 yards by 150 yards. I looked at the beach and decided to start in the middle straight out from the rental booth and work an in-and-out grid pattern from shallow to deep and back. I had made 11 passes in and out and on the 11th pass deep end turn around I got a solid hit and pulled up 3 quarters and a nickel in one scoop! Not 5 feet further on, I got another faint but solid signal and two scoops later as I shook the sand out of the scoop I could feel a clank clank coming from the scoop! I HAD IT! Someone really wanted this ring to get back to its owner!

Thanks y'all! We're waiting for the guys Mom to arrange to get down here to pick up the ring to surprise him with it before Fogcity updates the Success Stories page at LMS. I don't know the details but maybe Rick will comment soon.

What I know is the guy is active duty military and stationed in England. His Mom lives in Pensacola and works with Rick. The guy was here in PCB on leave/vacation/TDY? and lost his ring. The rest you all know from my O.P.

Robby did a great job of finding this ring...I'm Rick and it was my co-workers son who lost his ring...He's USAF active duty stationed in Mindenhal UK; and was here on vacation with his wife...they visited his Mom. She told the me the story after he lost the ring (I too water detect), but Panama City beach is a 2.5 hr drive for me...and I remember that Robby detected out that way...I contacted him and gave him the little info I was given and away he went to grid out and search the beach...the rest is here for everyone to read...he made a friend in doing this and maybe even will get Brian into the hobby...Thanks, Job well done...!!!

After nearly 3 weeks in the Gulf, it's headed home... *** UPDATE ***

I haven't spoken with Brian's Mom directly yet but we have exchanged voicemails and it looks like she will be coming to get the ring next Tuesday!

For those who have asked, it's 7.7 g and appears to be 14K with an "FE" in it.

It has already been ID'ed and claimed so the pic's won't matter...

*** UPDATE *** Lunch meeting set to return ring!

Finally got our schedules in synch and my wife and I are meeting with the owner's Mom on Thursday to return the ring. Pic's to follow!

Yet another picture of the site... It was a LOT calmer the day of the recovery

Here's a better idea of just where the ring was. I forgot Chateau has a beach cam! I was in chest deep water at mid-tide and the ring was about 8-10 inches into the sand on the bottom...

Brian's Mom has the ring now, it's HALFWAY home!

Rita and I met with Sandra and had lunch, chatted for a couple hours and of course, gave her back her Son's lost wedding ring!

*** UPDATE *** Brian has his ring back!!

I just spoke with Brian's Mom and she told me that Brian has finally gotten his ring back and will get a pic of it back on his hand soon. I know it took a while but the ring has had quite a trip... it had to go all the way back to England.

That's the problem with using links for pictures...

They go away for some reason...

Here's the ring
