Got out this afternoon before the sun went down and the ground started to freeze. No date Buffalo and another War nickel. Also found this cool piece of sterling. It's not marked, but definitely sterling. Any ideas what it came off of? It has a hole through it. Looks like it was tacked to something. Maybe a saddle strap. This park has had lots of horse traffic. Thanks for looking!

Congrats on the sterling, war nickel and Buff SW. I agree with Cliff, definitely from a belt. And a nice find to boot. Good to see you were able to get out. We had a little mild weather here today so I too took advantage, had to hunt woods though, grassy areas frozen solid. Good luck and lets hope for more mild weather. Mark

That silver belt tip is an awesome find! So is the war nick. Nice to see people getting silver already. I haven't hunting this year yet, we got snowed in bad, then no power for nearly 2 weeks and now I'm just getting by. I need to get out and hunt though soon!!!!

Congrats and good to see your post.

Nice pair of nickels! The silver belt tip is neat, too. Great hunt, Tyler! :woot:

A rather funny side note ~ Your statement, "Got out this afternoon before... the ground started to freeze" made me think twice, because I'm accustomed to having frozen-solid ground several months out of the year. :snowflake: It's nice that you can start your detecting season this early on.

I think your idea of fancy silver strap end for a fancy riding saddle may be on track. Nice find. Don
