Been working five different home places recently, the houses are no longer there but they left a lot of relics and so far two gold rings. I thought one gold ring was a bit rare to find on these old places but TWO ? I just wouldn't have ever imagined that I would even find one. Don't know much about gold hallmarks, if anybody can get an approximate date on the ring I would appreciate it. I didn't have any luck researching it. Also another IH for the collection, bit better shape than the other one I found out there. The plow blade was crusted with rust so I took it to work and sand blasted it. Thanks for looking folks.
Joey

Yeah! That one there is a stone cold BEAUTY! Old hallmarks, heavy plain band! What a stellar find! Hard to beat that kind of Trophy! Well done and Congratulations!

That's an old gold for sure with the block stamps, should be relatively simple to get the date range on that, congrats! Really nice injun too!

Thanks for all the replies. Its been really fun and exciting for me and my wife to hunt. One of the sites goes back to the 1860s, the site that the latest ring was found on is a mystery, its been abandoned for so long that even the old folks around here don't know who the people were or when it was occupied. And one of the sites is so far out in the country that I cant get to it without an ATV or horse lol, going to have to wait for warmer, dryer weather. One thing about these sites, I have found not one single silver coin, I guess people in the country didn't carry coins around much back then. Only two IHs and a few wheats and a Chinese cash coin, don't know how that got there, just another piece of the puzzle.

Congrats the ring is old and British. Yours is 14k instead of the 18k ring this guy is describing. The hallmarks match.

Re: markings inside gold ring?
Lads, I am familiar with hallmarks from this part of the world, and that is an 18 k solid gold ring. As an earlier poster said, the gold appears more orange because it is alloyed with copper as opposed to silver, etc. That's common for English gold jewelry. Great find!

Thanks, I searched and searched and couldn't find a match on the hallmark, even did a google pic search.

Beautiful gold and love that injun too!
I have a theory that there is at least one piece of gold in virtually every homesite over 50 years old.

Matt would the odds be higher if the homesite had a duplex or apartment on it ?
