You guys were right from a previous post of mine from 2 years ago about hitting this field and only finding wheats and no silver. You all said, silver must be in that dirt. And it was but the F5 wasn't getting it.

I went to a school field that in the past has given me over 15 Wheat pennies and one silver dime. Today, I started at the tot lot and was cleaning up on the clad coins. Then people started arriving and I moved to the filed and decided to see how the ATP would work. Guess what? First thing I found today was a Buffalo nickel and its the first one I have found in over 6 years. Then I went to the other side of the field and found a Roosevelt dime 1952, then a 1918s Mercury, and finally found a silver quarter 1954 in great shape. I also found a rusted belt buckle? Not sure and about 6-8 wheats. I know more silver is in the ground and I finally got over my drought.

The silver quarter I believe was ringing up about an 87-88 on the atp
I think the Buffalo and all nickels hit at a 51-53 somewhere around there. I was in standard mode as well. Hits in both direction. Most coins were in the 5-6" range.

Great finds! Run that ATP in Pro mode wide open and you'll really get the benefit of its abilities!

Congrats on your find,,,, People think every machine are equal :?: ,, They all get the job done ,,,, WRONG,,,,, You are one guy that found that out ,,,, :D

Hi

Metal----

I was using the 5x8" coil.

I was carrying with me both detectors. With the recent rain, the atp was hitting items deep. The one thing that was also hitting consistently was bottle caps. I also hit those wheats and copper pennies. I think the bottle caps were detecting at a 77, maybe.

It's just more difficult to pinpoint with the DD coil compared to my concentric coil on the F5. The F5 is great to about 4" but I think the ATP kills it below that in the 4-6" range. I am going to go there again and see if I can find more. I know until today, loads of wheats have come out of this field. That 1918 Mercury is 99 years old but of course I can't see the dates on the dimes without a magnifying glass. Stinks getting older.
