I haven't been on here in quite a while, but I thought I would share my weekend.... I had planned to go to New York this past weekend for the "Pound the Ground" event, but decided to save money, and stay home instead.
I did detect Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the field where I found the California Miner's Buckle. I have to say that although I would have Loved to have gone to NY to meet everyone and hunt together, I would be hard pressed to have the weekend of finds I had here at home..... Guess what? The field was plowed on Thursday...... GAME ON!
Friday afternoon short hunt with Josh - A couple of Wheaties, and I got a 1954 D Rosie. That makes the Eighth Silver I have dug from this farm. Saturday morning I hunted solo for a few hours - Some Clad, Misc. Junk, and then I dug a button. Not just any button...... It is a Beautiful US Dragoon Cuff Button - CIVIL WAR!
Full shank, and excellent detail! Shortly after that I dug a very old Thrasherman and Farmer Good Luck Medallion. Very Cool item! Now, I'm not a real superstitious guy, but I think it really may be Lucky. I threw it in my pocket when headed out Sunday Morning, and what a Phenomenal Day!
Josh and I were not even in the field 15 minutes whenI got a good High Tone on the Minelab NOX 800. I turned off my headphones so he could hear it, and I called "maybe Silver Quarter...... Likely trash" (Targets here are jumpy until out of the hole). Fipped out the dirt, and there was a Large dirt covered disc. It was Half Dollar sized! Last time this happened here it was a token. This time I picked it up, and it was Heavy. I threw it back in the pile and yelled out "Half Dollar". Figured I had a Barber, but when Josh cleaned the dirt away...... 1863 S Seated Half! She ain't pretty, But she is Beautiful to me! A lot of black tarnish, but amazing detail - Full Liberty! This coin has been a long time coming!
A little later I dug my second Chauffeur's Badge from this location. We dug a few Wheaties, and Josh dug a 1906 Indian. Just before we was going to take off I got a Great sold 24 signal. Called it as a Wheatie, but much to my surprise out pops a complete Fancy Crotal Bell.... Beautiful! It has Horseshoes detailed all around it, and it rings Beautifully!
The surface finds were also quite good..... Small bottle, large marble, crude Native American bead, a porcelain doll leg, and a claw/fang of some sort.
Stayed in town, saved some money, and saved some amazing American History!
I Dig History - Literally!
Thanks for Looking - HAPPY HUNTING!

Yeah....I think you made the right decision in staying home! Congrats on the great weekend!

They are some great finds.
The seated half will clean up since it just silver sulfide tarnish (al foil and spit).
The details good good.

Nice little crotal bell.

Incredible Chaos, just an awesome array. Seated half? They made those? No, I’ve never found one...in case you were wondering...;)
