I found this out at the site where ive found unbelievable civil war relics(★IN NEW HAMPSHIRE★), coins, jewelry, you name it ive found it at this one site.
Heres a link to a post of my previous finds at this place.

I hadn't been there in a month. And after discovering a corn field I had never gotten to was cut and tilled, I made a point to take the ten minute journey from my house and go start grid it out.
I worked a section about the size of a football field. I found a war nickel, a 1894 V nickel,a golfers watch fob and a very old sterling pin. I was pretty happy with that, especially because I haven't found very much silver here.
Here's a link to pics of these.this find deserves its own thread.

Towards the end of the day I reached the end of a row.I felt like stopping for a few so I just stood there. I was on a "road" that runs down the middle of the field. I was thinking about how long this road has been there. I figured maybe before tractors the field wasn't split in two by a road. Right after thinking about that I turned the AT PRO back on. Right in the middle of this tractor "road" as I was lining up to start another pass, I got a super loud hit. I figured it probably was a can, being so close to the edge of the corn field. I hadn't found one all day so I swung over it again. 84 on the screen but definitely bigger than a coin. I figured it was brass.

I was right! It was brass.
Heres what I found.
A WAR OF 1812 ARTILLERY MILITIA BELT PLATE (buckle)

it is in really good shape other than the bend, the detail is perfect. It even still has some of the silver wash on it(bottom left). It is curled but not creased and with it being such thick brass, I'm wondering if it can be straightened. ?
ALL I KNOW IS THAT THE INTERNET SAYS ITS RARE.LIKE A 8 OUTTA 10. AND IVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO FIND PICTURES OF TWO ONLINE AND ONE IS BROKEN.
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE HERE? HOW RARE IS THIS ?
I READ THAT THERE ARE FEW KNOWN EXAMPLES LEFT. IS THAT TRUE?

Also I previously found a Harrison campaign token. Harrison was famed for winning the battle of tippecanoe. Which started the war of 1812. I wonder if these are related. Maybe a veteran of the war went on to vote for"tippecanoe and Tyler too" in 1840?

That is an amazing piece you found there!
I am a noob on Civil War and War of 1812 items, but I am sure someone can tell you what it's worth.
When in doubt, check fleabay:yes:

Wow man that thing has got some crazy detail left in it! The bend is unfortunate but may have protected the front over the years. Big congrats!

WOW ! :wow: Amazing find !
Sometimes I think relics are just waiting only for us to be found - it was destined
for you

Wow!!!! That is a museum piece right there. You don't see that everyday. I would avoid trying to straighten it out as well, I've messed up more than 1 find trying to fix it. Congrats.

 What an incredible find!! Congrats!! But are you sure it's not just a brass heating element from a toaster??

In all seriousness though, it's definitely worth the professional restoration, not a DIY job in my opinion!
