I went out curb stripping for a couple hours earlier this week - didn’t find any silver, but I did manage to grab 7 Wheaties along with $1.45 in clad. As I’ve mentioned in some other threads, I actually enjoy cleaning my Wheats by hand - I find it surprisingly enjoyable and sort of therapeutic...plus it gives me good practice for cleaning more significant copper/brass finds (large cents, tokens, IHPs, etc).
But the real treasure lately: my 4 year old daughter has suddenly taken a great interest in helping me “clean my pennies” She says she like likes to “scratch on the pennies and make the little words show up” She absolutely loves it, and I get a kick out of her enthusiasm
Plus, she’s getting pretty good at it! Here’s some shots of her cleaning up a 1928 Wheatie using toothpicks, Andre’s pencils, and some 0000 steel wool. The first shot of the Wheatie is after her efforts...she even got some of the black oxidation off! The last shot is after I finished the job for her...I think we make a pretty good Pennie cleaning tag team!
