Got three short hunts in this past week about 10 hours total. On the first day I was on my knees swinging my coil up under a huge rhododendron tree that had just been cut back, when I got solid 29/30 . Had to lay down to dig it and pulled out a large bronze One Sol from Peru, swung over the hole and still had a 28/29, pulled out a second One Sol. Rechecked the hole and still had a 28/29, ended up finding a third. Not real old 1963, 65, and 66. But a really cool spill. Also found a Buffalo, a few Wheaties and a bunch of memorials and clad. On day two I went to a hay field that the locals claim has been hunted to death, including buy detecting clubs. I found a large copper that I cleaned just enough to identify an eagle on one side and couldn't tell what was on the other. I didn't want to over brush it in the field. So despite my curiosity, I wrapped it in a damp napkin, put it in a sandwich bag, and continued hunting. Found a cool relic with a piece of leather that was held in place by a clip. Unfortunately I broke the clip off while rubbing the dirt off. Also found a few buttons, a few Wheaties, and a bunch of memorials and clad along the road. When I got home I gently removed the dirt from the copper coin and found Brittania on the other side ( the obverse). On the reverse with the eagle it says HALF PENNY TOKEN, and the date is 1815. Looked it up and it's actually called a Lower Canada Spread Eagle HALF PENNY TOKEN. 1813 to 1815. On day three I found a National Defense service metal that was being worn as a necklace. A 40's Rosie, a few more Wheaties, and a bunch more memorials and clad. I got a chance to clean everything up last night and realized that the quantities were as strange as the finds. I found exactly 50 memorials, exactly 25 zinc, and 25 copper. An even number of clad Quarters and Dimes at 8 each. And an even 10 Wheaties.
