Newbie looking for someone to hunt with. Been at it for about a year, mostly local parks and delaware beaches.

I'm actually camping with my sons boy scout troop this weekend! So of course it's raining...

I’m in York county, Dallastown /Red Lion. I’ve did some detecting at Chiques Rock but not very much. Also thought of the NW rail trail around Conoy/Bainbridge. But parts of the NW trail that’s not under Lancaster County Parks control will need township approval. Another places is north of Acamac Inn at the new State park on the York side . So shoot me a message & maybe we can set something up.

I wonder if you could get down to the old Anderson ferry landing that's at the Accomac Inn. It was used back in the colonial period from what I've read.

Anyway, I'd love to meet up and see what we can find. Usually have some free time on the weekends.

You ever go to Spring Valley park? I see 3 old homesteads on the park lands.
In York county you need a permit for the county parks ( which I have ). I’ve detected the parking lots. I’ve seen some of those sites. Let me know if you want to go sometime.

I would be up for that. But I noticed much of that river front is posted. Was Andersons N or S of the Acomac Inn ?

I'm not 100% sure. I was under the impression that it was pretty much right in front of it.

I have the permit as well. I overlaid a 1876 map over modern goggle earth map, and found the old home sites. Up there yesterday looking around.

I sent an email asking about the permit this weekend and haven't heard back yet. What's the best way to go about getting the "special use" permit?

HI
For York County you go to John Rudy Park office and say you would like to get a metal detecting permit. Its free.

I went to the Parks office at John Rudy Park ( Rt 30 W to Mt Zion Rd ) left on My Zion, over the hill, Bear right at light at bottom of hill. Cross over creek, turn first left, Go straight in that road 1/2 mile. Office is on right ( don’t turn into park )

I drove thru Spring Valley park today. 1 stone structure is a house that’s occupied, another is a maintenance place which has the road gated. There’s another structure that’s about a half hour hike. Another place is an old dump( half hour hike ) where I found some old bottles.

I'm going up in 30 minutes to check out these other old home sites.
