Not sure if these things work or not but thought that I would pass it along. I was looking at different things on eBay and I stumbled on these filters, from time to time I read post on the forums of some of you troubled by interference, if these things work it would be a great investment as they are only around $5.00 They clamp around the coil wire and can be taken off easily.

Hate to day this but, if you are plagued by interference and the detector electronics are housed in a plastic pod, the filters you put on the cable won't do much.

I was under the impression for ferrites like this you had to wrap the cable through it to get the proper shielding, not just clip it on... We use a lot of ferrites where I work and that's how we set them up... I too am curious to see how it works...

I figured as much, but do know some electronic things has them on their cord, maybe just a selling gimmick.

Actually, many of the appliances that have them on their cord have them, not to prevent EMI from getting in through the cable, but to prevent the EMI that THEY generate from getting out. In many cases this is because they use a "switching" type of power supply.
