Here is my latest kick, am going to go deeper and further than I'd ever be capable of. [This thing actually can go to depths of 300ft, obviously I will need no where near that depth in the puny little lakes and rivers around me]
Obviously the chances of seeing gold jewelry above the muck are slim, but possible ,,, And it comes with a retrieval claw. This thing sounds like a kick, maybe I'll team up with some magnet fishers and scout out if there is anything worth pulling up. Also can probably make $$ retrieving keys, cell phones ect that boaters lost, so long as they know the approximate location should be very doable.

I actually lost a heavy gold bracelet in a river but that was years and years ago and quite a drive, about a 3 hr round trip. Who knows I might give that a try but will be next spring once I am up to speed running this thing.

It would be useful to explore fishing spots offshore or in the bay down here. Find a spot with your sonar and then check it out with this thing before wasting time dropping lines and waiting.

Love all the new tech coming out!

Yeah alot of guys use these with fishing in mind, not something I am into. It has a sonar addon for guys into that, this one would be overkill for that purpose I think, there are ones 1/4 the price of this one that would do just fine for observing. I was going to get one of those at least to start, then I thought of how lame I'd feel if I coasted over a gold chain and could only look at it, I then decided to pony up and get one with a retrieval claw.

I was soooo close to owning one of these, then I tried to think of places I could actually use it and came up with not much. May get one someday. Post what you do with it please!

Will do, I'll post in this thread as I don't want to clutter things up with off topic posts. I am close to the Detroit River and I am going to be exploring that, probably some decent odds for guns and body parts there. My uncle told me that some WW2 Corsairs went down in the Detroit river, used to be a naval air station on an island not far from Detroit so I am going to see if theres any info about that ,, And of course I am going to be prowling my usual hunting spots at beaches, but will probably have to wait until the crowds die down but there are plenty of non swimming bodies of water I can practice at.

Nice! I think the water must be pretty clear for it to work.

Dipped my new sub today in a pool. Very easy to control but of course, once I get it out in a murky lake it will be a different story, I'll have to totally go by what I see on the screen rather than watching it in a clear pool. It has a feature that comes in handy where you can lock the depth, so I'm going to try to get it a ft or so above the bottom and skim along, looking for stuff all the while. Has another cool feature that makes it kind of shuttle to left or right ,, Supposed to be hot and sunny tomorrow so might not be able to too close to the swimming area, but people take rafts and things all the time in the middle and there are no doubt some goodies out there.
Another huge challenge will be to actually recover something with the claws, they are easy to operate open/close but lining up will be the problem, especially if I kick up a mini sand storm with the props. At least they are dinky fresh water lakes with little current, seaweed clogging is another thing I am worried about. Its tether is wrapped around a stout tail plane before being plugged in so if worse comes to worse, I can simply pull it back to shore, unless it somehow snags on something.

I used an ipad for the imaging, of course can use a phone too. I didn't even need to look at it in the pool but will be all I have to guide on in a lake, I am bringing a box to shield it from the sun so hopefully I'll be able to see the screen.

This is pretty awesome. I've toyed with the idea of using a kayak and dropping my gopro over the side to looks at the river bottom and try find the location of old bath houses, but you're new toy blows that away.

Yeah this would be a step or two up from that, kinda like a remote controlled gopro with a claw. You work with what you got through, should be able to do some scouting with a rope and cam, no doubt its been tried many times before.
I'm looking forward to see if I can pay for this thing but am keeping my expectations in check ,, As I said previously, I think there is no doubt gold jewelry any other valuables are out in swimming lakes and rivers that are out of reach except to maybe scuba divers, this will unlock all of that and more, but how much of it is going to be actually visible is the question. I think realistically, cell phones and keys/sunglasses will be the top retrievable items, but it will be cool in general just to survey what lies beneath the waves.

Very cool. I like it. I would worry about it getting snagged and losing it. Its not like loosing a fishing lure. Please post pics of it in action. Good luck. Mark

My thoughts exactly. I can't wait to see what you find, but be very careful in those rivers, strong currents and lots of trees/limbs/brush from flooding to get hooked up on. Good luck and HH!

Figure how to attach a metal detecting control pod, coil, and remote headphone pod capable of transmitting to your location and you’re golden!

if you succeed, then you can spend on points (our ukr.fighters now control FPV drones flying / ground / underwater - using points)
