Went out after work today. It had started to snow for the past hour and continued getting heavier while I was out. Once I got to my planned site, I was oblivious to the heavy snow now falling around me. I gotta hunt this place for months. It's way cool. It's a mostly burned down 1800's mansion with out buildings. I was getting underneath stair cases and looking behind fireplaces and brick walls.                                                          I got filthy, but had a blast. Found this cool button backing that says Treble Gilt Standard Colour and has a miniature eagle version of what I assume the front part looked like. Too bad it wasn't a whole piece. I wish I could get a better close up of it, but I guess I gotta wait until I get my good camera.
I also found this piece of clay pipe in the same hole with the button. Found the neat little bottle (3 1/2 inches tall) in a hole along an out building foundation where I dug a double headed axe too.
Last but not least, found this awesome animal claw or fang in a hole I was digging. I think it must belong to a large cat, but more likely a bear. SHweet! Also found numerous bone pieces in the button hole along with an oyster shell.
I finely couldn't feel my hands and decided to call it quits. Haven't found any old coins yet, but I'm very confident this site has got to have some.

Thanks epi. Yeah, I am pretty lucky in the sites I have to choose from. I'm gonna have to start writing them all down so I won't forget any. I ,too, love investigating old houses; always have. I found a shot gun in one house when I was a kid. Wrapped it in a blanket and rode my bike home with it. Even got passed by a cop who had to have thought that looked pretty suspicious, lol.
I got a lead on another potential site from a friend at work who is also getting a detector, one of the new imaging coil Garretts. He has an older friend at church who has about 500 acres of land with, he thinks, about 7 remnants of colonial houses. He's gonna ask if we can detect there too. Also, have an 1800's house just down the road from where I work I'm gonna ask about. This place is known to be haunted and it's basement was a civil war hospital. THat's where all the activity is heard. Someone was living there for a little while, but I think the spooks chased them out too. It's gated with no trespassing sign and I don't see cars there anymore lately. It has very old out buildings too.
So much to hunt, so little time.
I'll take pictures of this place next time.

Nice finds bearbqd. It started snowing here in PA around 3:00 PM - I wanted to get out today before the snow but had too many things to do.

I have a bottle very simular to the one you found - some kind of medicine I assume. I found mine in a dump that dates back to the turn of the century.
