marbles?

I have found at least 5 marbles while digging targets. anyone else find marbles? how can I tell what they are worth? My wifes uncle (professional garage sale guy) has bought and sold marbles for years but always tells me they're not worth anything...and he'll give me .10 apiece

i've found a few marbles while bottle diggin, never any while MD'ing. i really don't know alot about the value of them but i keep them anyway, esp since i've lost a few marbles over the years or atleast thats what the wife says

Marbles were a major "sport" when I was a kid, I had several bags full of them. My mom probably threw them out when I got older and started chasing girls......

I seem to find them about 4" to 6" down while digging pennies.
think these kids were gambling?

Yeah, I've got one I found 4" down MDing the back yard; it's in with my finds box (the only non-metallic thing in there).

I find some now and then at sidewalk tear-ups. Once I met a worker who was collecting them and said he finds quite a few on the job.

Some may be worth something, but the typical cat's eye really isn't worth anything.

Whenever I'm digging at construction sites of really old places (not metal detecting, but scraping the perimeter walls and sometimes sifting the stuff in the dirt) or MDing sidewalk tear-ups in old commercial districts, I seem to always run across at least 1 clay marble. That and little ceramic doll parts.

collectors are very picky from what i here.I get them all the time in lots and const sites.I just toss em in junk box.You never know

Never found any marbles digging that were worth much,,,
I have found a lot too.
Here's some I used to have that were very collectable in my album.
Don't find these in the ground. They are 100+ year old German Swirls.
Hand made of course..

Dusty's comment reminded me that when growing up my next door neighbor's boy, who was about 5 years older than me, gave me his marble collection when he went off to college! Now I am wondering, just what happened to that collection! HMMMMM..... Probably the same thing that happened to the rest of my stuff when I went off to college....MY MOM TOSSED IT ALL!

My first edition and issue of Spiderman comic book, my collection of Tarzan ACE paperbacks, my bb gun, and everything of value that I left at home for safe keeping! GRRRRRRRRRR

I actully had a nice collection of them when I was a kid that were given to me by a great uncle. According to my grandmother he was the local marble champ. Not sure what ever happened to all of them but it is possible they might be floating around somewhere.

Use to find a lot of them in my garden but, for the most part, they were all game type marbles, Chinese Checkers, etc.
