Hi- nothing earth shattering, but I attached this epoxy-coated neodymium magnet to my sand scoop to grab the ferrous stuff for me, so I can focus on the (sometimes!) better catches.

Gary recommended something similar - gluing a magnet to the back of his pinpointer to help find magnetic targets. I’ve got a few magnets and have been meaning to glue one on there. Has this done much for you?

Well, I am wayyyyyy late on this reply, but the magnet on scoop helps a lot in being able to clear out the iron debris right away. Interesting effect in AZ man-made "beaches" around reservoirs, is that the magnet accu, ulates a lot of small rustin iron bits, almost like iron filings. Can still pull them off and carry on.

It is a good idea. I have one of those strong round home depot magnets mounted on a short piece of a wood round handle. Good for clearing out iron nails and other iron stuff that might (often is) masking or altering a good tid.
