Got the itch

Hello everyone.
I'm new to the hobby. I've been following this hobby for a while and decided to jump in and have some fun. I purchased a refurbished teknetics gamma 6000. I hope it's a decent unit. Waiting for it to arrive. I'm retired and live in the Morris county area of New Jersey. I'd like to know know what local areas I could go to to try it out and maybe hook up with to give me some pointers.
