For each target, you have to dig a clump of sea grass, sand and mud out, break it up and then search it with a Pointer to find the target. How many clumps would you be willing to search for a gold ring? 100? 1000? 10,000?

So far after 6 hunts (27.5 hrs), I have searched over 1,000 clumps yielding about 562 coins, 4 silver rings, 4 junk rings and couldn’t count that high number of junk targets (even after screening-out most junk). [Reported earlier here and posted lower down.] Normally, I find a gold ring every +/- 200 coins, splitting hunts in water, low tide and dry sand. Machine gun beach is just ruining my ratios; having found almost 600 coins but no gold. Perhaps there is a reason why this place isn’t hunted? Or is it just Haunted?

Should I keep hunting this junk infested beach or go to an easier beach where gold rings are perhaps more numerous? I’m leaning toward the latter, particularly since people are now returning to the beach. Opps, they’re gone again...

Update

Decided to take the easy way out and go hunt a popular, soft-sand beach. First hunt in dry sand yielded 2 silver (925) loops and a Pandora 925 silver heart ring and the usual coins (38). I gave the heart ring to my wife for Valentine’s day, she was NOT impressed.

The second hunt was in water and to say it was quiet would be an understatement. Nevertheless, pulled-out a 14k Artcarver band (4g, VID 16 on Equinox 800) and a SS band and only 9 coins (4 not shown) and about 10 pieces of junk. After 4 hrs! Unfortunately, this time the wife was impressed and the gold band is “gone”.

For now, I'm going to keep to the popular "clean" beaches for my gold ring hunting. But Machine gun beach sure is a great work-out and it sure is fun digging a LOT of good targets... LOTS of junk targets not so much.
Happy Hunting

Nice find. Wifey happy.

It seems all my clean easy digging beaches have already been poached by the competition over the winter. Every time I go, I run into another one or two or three guys with detectors. Spring break is the start of the replenishing season. 🏖️ :clapping:
