Only had 20 minutes to hunt, before time to feed the critters. But, my Deteknix pinpointer came in, and I just had to give it a try!

It's so much easier trying to track items down with a pinpointer! I don't know how I went a week without one. LOL

Okay, so nothing special to report, but I didn't expect much. I managed to get some old nails out of the pasture. As an aside, since I'm new to this, I was happy that my equipment hit on that tiny washer, at about 6" depth. The shard is slightly interesting, but found nothing else as part of it.

Yep having a pinpointer is must, makes things a lot easier.GL

Honestly, the very few times I've been out so far, were pretty darned frustrating, for the lack of one. I did manage to find a clad quarter last week, but it would have gone so much faster with one, instead of the alternative. I have new motivation!

Yesser, a definite must have for sure. I remember those years before the pin pointer came out, and how hard it was to find your target.:pullhair::pullhair::pullhair:

Is the one nail a square nail?

I love finding Square nails, helps date the finds and they are damn cool

the true square nail heads are from the early1800's and the rectangular ones

1800 - 1880

either way I like em.

Well !!!!, I threw that nail away! Now I have to dig it out of the trash! It is indeed square-ish.

Well, I'm doing a good job of getting old nails and fencing out of the pasture! More old nails, but nothing like that rectangular one...which I did dig out of the trash.:D

Cool stuff!

The bad thing about a pin pointer is watching a MD video featuring someone who can't use it correctly. I commend folks who make these YouTube videos, but some are painful to watch.

Yep, they sure can be for sure.:lol:

Laughing, but in all seriousness, if you could link a good example, and then a bad example, it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm at the point of I don't know what I don't know. Though, if if keep digging tiny junk, I must be doing something right.

Oh lord, I would if I could remember the video I saw it on. There are only skatyeight gazillion you tube vids on metal detecting to watch.:shock::shock::lol:
