It's been a very dry couple of months for me. Very high tides pulling sand off the beach and into the near shore spots where I usually like to dive with my King Midas (excal 2). Also the water has been super cloudy with very limited visibility. Well I set off again with very low expectations but very high hopes, knowing I'll at least score a cool pair of shades, or perhaps another cell phone. About 40 mins into my dive I score this ring which I thought was just silver, like I said visibility sucked. I thought sweet at least I found a ring. Put it on my holder and continue on with my dive. Getting to the end of my dive I run into a friend who was about to paddle out to go surf, asked how I did, told him "ah prolly just one silver". I hand him the ring and he says "brah you're stoked it's 10k" tell him how stoked I am to finally break a dry streak. He then asked me if I seen the hole in the sand bar with the exposed reef and white rocks showing. He's also a fellow snorkler. I tell him I haven't seen it. He tells me to follow him out and he'll show me where it is. We get out there and sure enough, you could see the potential, a few feet of sand got taken away, and there was white rocks all around. Bad thing is water is about 8 feet deep and super murky. Not to mention it's right off where surfers are finishing up there rides. There is also boats that go through there. Decided it's not safe at all for me being there, would go down, get a signal, try to fan against the ebb and flow, have to come up to breath, go back to completely lose my target as I couldn't keep my eye on the spot cuz the water was so murky. Decide to head in for the day, very stoked on my "siver" ring which ended up being just about 9Gs of 10k white gold! Cheeee-hu. I went home thinking about how I could get to that exposed reef.......the next day I grab a big jar fill it up with rocks and attach it to a dive bouy, attach a anchor to a long surfboard and paddle me and my gear out to the
hole. I use the rocks and dive bouy to mark where my target is so I can go up to breathe follow my line back down 8 feet or so to retrieve my target. Anyway, can't give out all my secrets. Lol. Got this real choppy but consistent tone, took me about 8 up and downs as I had to fan, come up to breath, go back down fan again, repeat, pull put some small boulders and big rocks. And out comes this magnificent 15g 14k signet ring. A whopper! Blessed beyond belief! Got a few coins and two black silver rings. Had to go in as I didn't want to push my hypoxic state I was in. The next day I head back out to the hole and sadly it was covered up. Still super stoked from the previous two days of gold. I head back in drop my board, dive flag and rocks on the beach. Swim along the shoreline and and get this beautiful 14k 8 gramer w/ 3 cute lil diamonds. 3 for 3....of course tried to go 4 for 4 the next day but no luck. I love this hobby.
