Hey guys, what’s up I’m down here in Cancun first day out in the water by equinox 800 floods head unit, dead. Mine that tells me it’s $400 for a replacement because it is out of warranty. Would you guys replace it or buy something new. Thanks think I’m gonna go have a beer to ease the pain.

I love my 800 for a Salt Beach and own three of them. I make a point not to dunk them out of warranty. No other company is willing to give you a replacement at their cost with a new three-year warranty. I say GO FOR IT!
I also have the D2 and have tested the Manticore. Your cash lay-out to get to those machines will not give you a much better machine.

So on a new head unit that also comes with a three-year warranty? Did they fix the problems with the leaks.

I was in the same situation recently and trying to decide if the new control pod was worth it ($350). They won't repair your old one or send it back to you - they just sell you a new one when they have them in stock. I bought one and had to wait about a month after sending my 800 to them (you just send the old control box - not the headphones, shaft or coil. Don't send the handle screws to them either - you won't get them back)
You do get a new 3 year warranty so don't worry about it failing again - just have it replaced if it gets wet again. I have submerged my new one without any problems. Maybe they have addressed the leakage problem that they won't admit the 800's had. 2 recent finds were all it took to pay for my new pod so it was totally worth it to me.

So you can’t sell the bad control unit - you have to trade it in with the cash? That’s a quasi-warranty. Otherwise you could buy a backup control unit and sell the bad control unit to me.

I'm a believer that the NOX is great for trolling the tide line and getting your knees wet. If you want to submerge it, get a well kept used or a new Xcal and mod it w/a remote PP and a straight shaft. Wont have to worry about water again.... Only option for submersion

I was in same position. I bought the replacement for $350 from the repair center. It comes with a fresh 3-year warranty. I thought it was well worth it. However, I won't use the repacement in the water. It is a dirt and sand machine.

After 2.5 years I think I'd throw it in the wash machine then send in for another one - Rinse and repeat !

Might be a low tactic but so is false advertising.
Very true. That's the most disgusting thing with ML. They never owned it or up to it. Not 1 peep on addressing the issue. Just send out a new one , all the while susceptible people are purchasing them. At the same time ML is crossing their fingers. Just hard for me to TRUST any company that willfully chooses that tactic.
