I haven't been out detecting very much and wanted to get out one last time this year. The first stop of the day was a mining site circa 1905. It had to much modern trash and to few targets. After an hour we decided to try somewhere else. About 10 miles from the mining site I knew where an old homestead sat so we went there. This spot was a nice spot with no modern trash and quite a few high conductors. We both pulled 7-8 Henry shells. My buddy found one of the nicest suspender clips I've seen. Then I got a nice 90 signal. I pulled out the pointer but noticed a reeded edge partially out of the ground. I pulled my oldest coin for the year an 1853 seated dime. We had planned on going up the road to a stage stop I know about but found the road washed out. In September there were major flash floods in Nevada and this area got hit. The canyon looked like a 10-12ft wall of water went through it. Next stop was a railroad siding that was established in 1881. A "hunted out" site. We were at this location a few minutes and I got a nice small high tone. I scooped out the 1901 barber dime. Within another 5 minutes I found the 1941 Mercury. This was my first dime trifecta. We made one last stop and my buddy found a 1926 SLQ and I managed a 43 Washington. It was a great last day for 2023!

Very cool. Just drove out to Fort Churchill - too bad one can't metal detect there! Drove through Virginia City on the way back home....

Congrats on knowing about, and having access too such sites, and on the great finds!

The sagebrush fields adjacent to Fort Churchill are still a good place to dig 3 ringers. The hills north of there have lots of them. The soldiers would target practice that way.
