Today my detector club went detecting when it was 10 degrees F. We were just barely able to dig in the ground. I am tired due to the upperbody workout from freeing my finds from the frozen ground. It paid off for us. My finds are posted with the picture. Rob found a 1942 Half,Keith found 4 I.H. pennies and Zoyboy found a couple silver dimes and I think 2 I.H. pennies. This Pa. drivers license was the culmination of my day. There used to be a pin on the back so they were meant to be worn.....Cool.

You are right, uncle, it was bitterly cold today, but you have to consider that we are rough, tough, and hard to diaper! That injun is in beautiful shape! It was fun watching you dig that driver's license, considering that we expected a half dollar. Overall, our detecting club had a great day; heck, even Ed pulled off a silver dime! We must hit that place hard next week!

Blitz, you forgot to write Kev's finds -- a 1929 Merc and a 1927 Buffalo nickel.

Blitz, Glad to hear everyone in your group was able to make some decent finds. Congrats on the drivers licence. Those types of items are always interesting.

Nice Finds

Guys.. really nice finds! How did you dig in this weather? I went to a couple of sites today and couldnt get down more than 1/2 inch... ground was frozen solid! Ended up going to the beach instead. Howd you guys do it?

Outstanding!

So you guys use a combination blow-torch & shovel or what? :D

Go where the grass is higher. It seems to insulate it better. If the temp. was freezing for too long it wouldnt make a diff.
