I dug this token next to a curb and after quite a bit of searching I've came up completely empty for information on it. Anyone have an idea of when it would have been made? I'm in Huntington, WV and nobody I've asked can remember Checker operating here so I haven't been able to even ballpark it. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Checker was one of the largest taxi services in the US. At least east of the Mississippi. So it wouldn't be too farfetched that it was from a traveler from NY, NJ, MA, or Pa areas. Cool find. I do know the last Checker rolled off the assembly line in 1999.

I found it in front of one the earliest, nicest houses in my neighborhood. It was built in 1921, and my grandfather said he remembers a lot of wealthy people having parties there when he was a kid in the 30s and 40s. So if the token does turn out to be older it would fit with someone traveling. And it's possible Checker operated locally and I just haven't talked to anyone who remembers.

I also found a type 1 SLQ in that curb strip just a few feet from the token. I sort of know someone who knows the homeowner so I'm going to try to get permission to hunt the property.

At an extremely remote farm in Southern WV I found a token for a bus line that operated in Ohio in the 1930's. And I've found tax tokens from Missouri and Oklahoma here in WV as well.
When our farm boys got off the farm I guess they brought back souvenirs.
