Seasonal allergies – they drive me nuts! I was sneezing up a storm at the office today, despite the fact that I was all drugged up, so I left early to get some needed rest. After a two hour nap, I had the urge to do some detecting, so I grabbed my gear and headed out the door. Pollen or no pollen, I needed to swing the coil. :D

The weather was beautiful, with a cool and stiff breeze, which thankfully kept the insects at bay. I decided to work an area I've been saving for a Spring day, since it's mostly overgrown during the summer. I carefully detected the ground near the pond that is located at the site, a hilly area where one false step could have me swimming with my detector. The effort was worth it though. I scored with some silver and a few other cool stuff.

During the summer it's much too difficult to properly work this area. Not today though.

After finding two badly corroded wheaties, I came across this 1920 merc.

I had to do a balancing act while digging up this 1951 sterling silver ring, since it was a bit deep.

Another mercury dime, dated 1942.

This was a sweet surprise. I found it while heading out to get something to drink.

I love finding the wartime nickels, and today I scored with two nice ones dated 1944-P and 1944-S.

A 1929 buffalo nickel. It's in very good shape.

This one didn't fare too well. I can't make out a date.

HH!

I don't know how you do it. You always finds loads of great things in the woods.

Great finds...I like the areas you search in. How do you find them??? I found a penny tonight with a perfect cross cut into it, I'll post the pic's in the AM, it looks pretty cool. How do you get so many pic's in one thread? The Last time I did it it told me I had reached my limit of 5. ????

It's got to be worth the pollen torture when you find such great things! That place is a gold mine! Great pics too!

I just look for sites where there may have been past activity, even though it may not look like it today. Today's site, for example, used to be a swimming area back in the early to mid 1900's.

I'm able to to post more photos because they are at another server at my webhost. I simply provide the link and use the IMG tags. :)

Holy Cow. That place has to be virgin. Looks like you might need to start wearing a backpack to haul all that loot. Congrats and thanks for reminding me I've got a swimming hole to check out.

Wow what a day, I am going to have to hit a stream spot like that, plenty of them around me ... But finding out where people hung out by them 50-100 years ago would be the key.
Looks like theres a few dyna-mites on ebay, including this one

Very nice ! great job swinging in that area must have been tricky.

Hey, thanks for that link, Xray! The one I found is in poor shape, but it's good to know when they were made. :)

Another fine hunt angel! Looks like you will have a good spot to hunt at least before it gets too overgrown. By the way, which detector where you using?

Not bad for someone doped up on allergy medicine and uncontrollable sniffles. You sly devil. ;)

I may be able to hit it a few times before summer. I've been using the Sovereign GT the past several months, mainly to acquaint myself with all the subtle tones. There was one site I visited recently that just cried out for the DFX though, and that's what I used. I try taking both machines with me whenever I go out to detect. They make an awesome pair! :)

At times I would go into sneezing binges. There were folks walking their dogs on one of the trails, and their pets would come down to were I was to check what all the ruckus was about. One very big black dog came too close for comfort.

I was just looking at your finds and really enjoyed each pic, but my favorite is the ring! Once you clean it up a pic would be nice, thanks Gregg

Thanks, Gregg!

Here it is after removing the soil. It's a nice old ring, and one of my favorite finds of the day too.

Go to your room Angel... You get 10 demerits for removing the enamel from that ring...:D

Looks like you had a fun day congrats... How the ticks?

Actually, that corner piece was already missing from the ring. I would have been bummed out if I had done it. :D

Let me tell you, those ticks are all over! Yesterday I neglected to spray myself with bug repellent, and they were climbing on me like flies on you know what!

I won't be so forgetful next time. :)

Great finds, Angel. Nice silver.

Now here's something spooky . . . Last night I drempt that I was in a theater, and the actress was going to sing her musical renditions of Little Orphan Annie. And here you find that broach, or whatever it is. (I think I hear the Twilight Zone music playing)
