Several years ago, I read Charles Grodin's autobiography, and he revealed his weight-loss plan: Drink two glasses of water before every meal.

That's it!

Now last month, a new study was released that probably cost several million bucks, and it came to the conclusion that if you drink two glasses of water before every meal, you'll eat less and thereby lose weight:

They coulda' saved a ton of money if they'd just asked Charles.

Exercise?
For a lot of people, easier said than done.

Drinking water doesn't wear you out.

On a personal note, about three weeks ago, I started running again. When I was in the Air Force, I had to run an 8-minute mile. Piece a' cake in those days, but that was 1969. I'm 63 now, and for some reason that 8-minute mile looks impossible.

This morning I did a quarter mile in a blistering 1:32, but no way can I sustain that pace. No way I can sustain ANY pace, for that matter. I'm just out of steam after a half mile.

I struggled through a full mile last week at 8:52, but with no drill sergeant screaming at me I didn't have the motivation to push past the pain. So I think I'll back off the mile and do some quarter miles.

I'm running every other day, and then fast-walking two miles on the alternate days. The walking I can handle; it's the running that exhausts my breath.

why couldnt I think of this??? I am going to try it. lol Sounds easy enough.

Exercise for people over 50

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.

Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

Are you serious?

I'm Serious, he's Roebuck. (His was an old joke, so is this - but how many youngsters even remember Sears and Roebuck? And whatever happened to Roebuck, anyway?)

One more thing about drinking water before a meal - the colder, the better. (Cold water burns more calories to digest).

If I recall correctly, Roebuck sold out to his partners before they hit the big time.
