Saw someone post about a certain Detector co. offering a 30% discount on a detector. But you had to post 10 videos. Made me wonder how many vids posted on youtube on the detector i can count to 10 vids? Or does clicks help you?

So anyways from here on out my Deus II will be called the "side chick" to avoid name dropping. But also because i won't be posting any drama vids of boxing up my CTX and Equinox and shipping them off to someone since those two will have a place on my wall of honor when they die one of these days after use, since they can not ever be "Replaced". They have both paid for themselves easily.

Also someone said the front of their coil has a sweet spot that does a double hit at the front of their coil. The whole length of my coil does that so not sure what that is all about?

Anyhoo saw someone was puzzled a while back about not finding gold in Florida on a short hunt session. They didn't understand what i meant about treasure to junk ratios. Basically any junk jewelry, small silver, rotten cell phones, cheap sunglasses is what we call "Junk". When you finally find gold, count the "Junk" and see if the ratio is lower or higher next time.

I scouted some beaches for one to try the "side chick" in the water and located one. But the surf was 5 to 8 feet. If you aren't sure what that means, the little lanyard on the controls of the "side chick" and your teeth may come loose in that stuff! Gotta try it another day.

Spent $50 in gas scouting our replenished beaches. So if you want to get rich, get three jobs. Metal detecting for money can suck!

On a side note if you detect salt beaches and want me to try your settings in the water on my beach "In" the water or wet sand using the "Side chick" feel free to pm me your settings and i will let you know how they run in my area.

Best find so far was the "Scales of Justice" Lapel pin. Looks to sell for 10 bucks on feebay. So guessing a dollar at one of my yard sales:lol:

First two pics are of todays dry sand hunt. Thought i found a 24K nose piercing for a second:lol: Stuff including the cellphone was from previous testing. Will say if you don't like mashing buttons, get an excalibur. I was using wired headphones and the wireless headphones un sync'd in the car. Talk about a pain in the butt without the manual to re sync!

Tough in the dry sand on Saturday. 200 Equinox's have already hammered it Monday through Friday. Remembered why i hated hunting weekends after they had some type of event. Was going to test the slope on the way back and about 3000 people were doing some type of walk at high tide. Had to leave it for a weekday.

I hit Siesta Friday one of the busiest beaches in Fl. I always see 4 or 5 hunters. Oddly not a single hunter period. That takes the pressure off…. But like you said they must have hunted it all week. Ended with 3 junk rings.

1st impressions of the Side Chick :?::laughing: PS if I move to Florida can I get a Side Chick  she has to cook & clean !!!!!!!
Shaft in the water at the 3.5 mark on the shaft you can feel vibration from the coil like an airplane wing. For tall people at the 5 mark it turns into a spaghetti noodle. The shaft is not good. Antenna at the control is a pain in the butt to clip. Shells get in the coil cover and its hard to remove. But i wash the detector totally after use. The modded Grey Ghost amphibians i made are loud to me after you crank up the volume on the controls. Then you can turn down the amphibians with the knob. So when they release the ones made by Gary you should be okay on waterproof headphones. Trying a few settings i find online so can't comment much on depth. Other than it likes deep iron if you want to dig it. Relic hunters it may be their main chick? Me i hate iron. I dig a cannon i can't ever mention finding it and have to leave it buried.

We got guys that basically live on the beach detecting all weekdays with backpacks. You can get the 411 on detectorists since they are there all day and night. They just don't know it's not beach season yet on my side.

Larry... I was looking forward to you playing taps when you sold the CTX or Nox... I'm disappointed now

My DFX, CTX, blue excals and Equinox won't ever be going anywhere. Unless i pass and my sister drops them off at Goodwill.

Exactly as I expected.

That is the thing about Florida. There are hundreds of locals, thousands of visitors and and tens of thousands of snow-birds. Good detector or not, the best advantage is to be the early worm. Everyone has the same equipment and hunts day / night.

Exactly why I took a hiatus for almost 2 years. TV, YouTube and other social media has exploited the hobby and made it darn near impossible to make headway.

I'm in the Treasure coast. Every day there are at least 30 hunters on any given beach I arrive at. After 300 years, do you thing there is any silver/gold left from the treasure fleet. Daum if I know but I tell you what, that means, 11,000 hunters hit those beaches annually, and at least 438,000 hunters have hit hard with decent equipment for the last 40 years.

This hobby is awesome but this hobby sucks. You can't do it to pay rent. you do it because you wish and pray you find something the last 30 hunters missed.

But Davis…. That’s why I do it. Enjoy the finds that 3 hours ago no one heard or swung right over…. Those you have to dig because you can’t call the target. Trash or treasure. I’m not in it for the competition nor does it concern me how many guys are there so much. I do my own thing out there. My biggest complaint is all the beaches got reneurished so most of that sand moved into the water which makes it mighty quiet. Not everyone has my machine so that makes it interesting as well.

Maybe you guys need to move to another state... buy some long johns and move north... you guys want some cheese with that whine?

You would be lucky to see another guy detecting in a year around here...

You keep that winter gear you wear in the summer….. I’m not moving now where you can’t wear shorts year around. Besides I might buy a Deus and dig all the Mightbe gold I’ve been leaving behind. I’m waiting for Larry to sell his for cheap. It’s a Mr Rogers kind of day here year round.

Florida just has too much money to spend on pumping sand. It is why the younger dry sand hunters get a lot more than most around here. They want to be able to fit as many bodies on a flat beach as possible. Bodies mean tourist dollars, parking fee's, traffic violations, etc. Rare to see police ON the beach. But you will find them in the parking lot and on the main street to the beach. The beaches want to be their own entity....until they want more money:roll: I used to never run across anyone detecting during the winter months. Not the case anymore. Now i can find the beaches i hunt on youtube with the name in the title and what they found. You hunt a beach like Daytona and you don't want to wind up on youtube you better stay home:shock::lol:

Heard Felix lives in the Klondike zone and should consider retirement. One thing i have learned over the years. Cats can have a $20 toy, but prefer playing with a bread twisty or loose pocket change. Tried to put a gold chain on my cats and they appear to have a hard time waiting for it to fit. But you can't roll change around a cat. Zinc pennies work like a laser light:laughing:
