Hey everyone,
I'm a little behind on posting finds from before thanksgiving. I hunted some of my lots and found a GW, a Dallas transit token, a couple bottles, and a few other things. I like the cobalt blue bottle but have no ideas on its age. Then I met up with my buddies Steve and Dan to hunt an old Orange County park that has been pounded. I had a great day for this park as I found an 1895o barber quarter, merc, a silver earring, and some wheats. Dan found a barber dime and merc and Steve found a barber dime which was amazing too from this park. Hope you all had a good thanksgiving.

Jason

.... to hunt an old Orange County park that has been pounded.....

Was this the park with the train-ride thingy ? If so, my hats off to you guys for getting more silver from there. It's been pounded, as you say !

Nice finds, especially being so old (Barber coins etc) from a pounded park!

That blue bottle looks to be some sort of Effervescent Salts (think upset tummy, stomach acid, indigestion etc) powdered medicine. Yours had a cork closure, and most likely came with a metal "dose cup" attached to the top. Similar bottles are the cobalt blue Jno Wyeth & Co. square bottles that came with a cobalt blue dose glass on top. Not sure if yours is machine made or hand blown without seeing the base, but looks to be ca 1910-15 vintage. Not a ton of value but a nice find!

Wow Jam, another amazing killer series of hunts! Love the marble pics, and the token, but the barber quarter is just pure awesomeness! Congrats and thanks for taking us along on the hunt (via pics )

Thanks and yes the choo choo spot haha. Not like that park is a secret and can't image many pulling much out of that place.

Thanks and appreciate the info on the bottle, that's way more than I was able to figure out. Here is a pic of the base. Looks machine made maybe.

Awesome finds. Is that a gold loop in the earring?
Thanks. I thought it was good but it was only marked .925 so I am thinking that is brass. I need to figure out how to do a scratch test on that piece in the middle to double check.

Thanks buddy and glad you are enjoying the posts. I appreciate it.

Just an FYI, Michael Owens invented and patented the first practical automatic bottle making machine, that eventually put a lot of glass blowers out of work. 1903 is the date given for when it began to be accepted, and it took about 10-15 years to pretty much take over the bottle making business. The Owens-Illinois Glass Company (with branches around the USA) was formed from the Owens Bottle Company and the Illinois Glass Company in 1929. They were the largest producers of bottles in the United States.

It's awesome learning stuff about finds. Thanks so much.

Wow man I want just one of those parks. LOL. Sweet finds bud. Is the Dan you hunted with the former Raphis from here? If so hows he doing?
