Hey folks,
New to this forum. From east central Wisconsin. Been md’ing for several years and mostly hunt alone. I was hunting in a local park when I ran into dewsweeper. Since then we have shared a few sites with each other and I have learned some stuff from him. Look forward to meeting more members and hoping to get some more hunts lined up.

Got my oldest coin at an old limestone quarry today

Rang up as a copper penny 12-44/45 on the strap. Almost walked away from it because it showed as only 3-4” deep in sandy soil. Thought it was a quarter when I popped it out of the hole until I saw it was copper then I thought it was maybe an old token of some kind....nope, it is an 1866 2 cent coin😀 I’d post a picture of it if I knew how but I haven’t figured it out yet on this forum.

Congradulations one the bigtime 2 cent piece ! What a nice introductory find .
There was a very short run of mint years on those baby's.
I'm going to look it up shortly . Not even sure where they were minted .
Bucket lister !!! Amaizing .

welcome, 2 miles away from dewsweeper. sweet find.

Yup Schmitzy is in our neighborhood but is seldom seen in the wild . He exists and a good guy . Like you Pete he can be seen circling old dirt with his truck also disguised in a similar fashion as yours . He often pulls a trailer around as he has found many a treasures . 👍
His specialty is gold . Seldom in the mood to shoot coins .
I know his weakness... He has a soft spot for relics .
That's our best bet to getting him out of the water.
Another stand up guy .
