Best detectorists? We all have opinions on them. Nice hunt but we all get lucky and some might have more skill and better machines or know their machines better but there are a lot of variables involved in finding the good stuff.

I certainly am not one of the best. I am one of the lucky ones.

Love the old signet and the Half!!

Enjoyed the video, and a very cool spot with some great digs! You think there would be anything in the water?

Cool Video

Watched the entire video, you all find silver easy, wish it was that way here, with the replenishment sand any silver will be nice, nice to see George out with you , nice hunting beaches their , would be great for me as , i like old coins, i see a bit of everything , thanks for sharing , happy hunting, Earl

Romy, I think that this may have been one of my most favorite hunts that I didn't find any rings on. All the old and interesting metal items such as lead toys, real silverware, wheat-back pennies silver coins and gold rings made each scoop more exciting than I am used to- never knew what was going to turn up in a place like that. More thoughts on a PM to you. ;)

You said it SD :D I brought one lucky guy (Mike) 1 Ross and 1 George LOL no but Ross & George Know there machines and have many many years experience with them George has been detecting longer than I've been alive and Ross puts in the hrs almost everyday even though he has only been detecting like 7 years he is like me and reads and watches others and basically has to know everything about anything he loves lol so i get what your saying there are many variables indeed but i feel i chose the best guys for the job ;) and as for me, I'm a half breed of skill and luck but i like to chalk it up to skill :p

Thanks Earl i wouldn't say withe ease most of them sounded bad and were surrounded by trash so i think this is why they were left behind by cherry pickers ;) we did score a few easy ones though i will say that :D and yeah George is a cool guy to hunt with indeed and always does very very well and was as happy as you and i were seeing the variety of old stuff come from there

A skeleton key, I have always wanted to dig one ,although I did dig one in a park in the playground sand I believe some kid had. This was really crusty, the first picture is after electrolysis and the second is cleaned up on the buffer wheel, she is a beauty .

One of my (much older) hunting buddies told another one of my friends, "George is not that good of a hunter, it's just that he can hunt all day until he finds something." I have to admit that there is some truth to that but it's no big secret- the more you hunt and the more places you hunt, the more you learn and the better chance you have of finding things, right?
I think Craig said it, "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while." :D
