Hey everyone,
These are my finds from three hunts last week with each hunt being three hours or less. The first hunt I headed to the park that I pulled the key date barber dime at last week. I ended up finding 4 pieces of silver, 12 wheats, an American Airlines junior pilot ring, chopped piece of a sterling ID tag, and an 1888s seated quarter. That was my first seated quarter and only my second seated coin ever and now my oldest silver coin that I have found. I had got a good signal that I thought might be silver and started digging around some roots of an old tree when I saw a flash of silver. I thought from the size of the silver it was probably a Washington and it had a ding in the side from a mower or something, but then I pulled the coin out of the hole and saw the eagle on the back and knew I had a seated quarter. The front was covered in dirt so I decided to call my buddy Dan (Raphis) to break the news to and while on the phone with him I wiped the dirt off the front to reveal the 1888 date. That was a find I will never forget.
Then on Friday after work I met up with my buddies Dan and John at the same park I had found the seated at a couple days earlier. I ended up with a merc, 2 rosies, a sterling heart charm, and 13 wheat pennies. Dan also scored some silver.
On Saturday I spent about an hour and a half at one of my local pounded parks before I had to go to my sons little league game and found 2 mercs, 1 wheat, and another piece of silver that I think was a coin that someone flatted and then drilled a hole through.
This weeks totals were 9 silver coins, 2 pieces of sterling, and 26 wheat pennies. These finds brings me to 105 silver coins, 21 pieces of sterling and 469 wheat pennies for the year.
Have a great week everyone,
Jason
