It is sad that some people have such low esteem that they have to make up stories that they think will make others envious of them.
I agree with this post. Even better though are the one post wonders. People who sign up and their first post is a gold coin or a pine tree shilling or a $40k diamond ring. Then you never hear from them again...
Those are my favorite posts.
Man I feel sorry for you all. You need to come to your friendly cousin of the north. When were not playing hockey or participating in the great seal hunt. Where flapjacks, maple syrup and poutine are standard with every meal. And where clad grows on trees. I can't wait for my igloo to melt so I can hunt for it again. But seriously clad hunting for us is how we buy lunch. Usually by noon me and another guy I hunt with will have enough clad by this point for coffee and sandwiches. There was talk about replacing our $5 bill with a coin if that ever happens I'll quit my day job to detect full time. Lol
I hate clad.
There, I said it. I go out of my way NOT to find it. Rather dig less targets and find the deep goodies. I know people that ONLY dig shallow targets, purposely looking for clad. I call them trash men.
I hunted almost exclusively one spot. It was waist to shoulder deep water at the end of a pier and 25 ft around it. people had been throwing coins off for wishes since 1918. I kept all the silver, wheaties, jewelry, rings, and a couple chains. Don't want to forget all the sinkers.
The coins came up in the beginning at 2 to 5 per scoop. The area was littered.
Dewcon and I pretty much raked it clean the following 3 years. Everything now is mostly clad, but I did manage a silver quarter a couple weeks ago.
Bottom line, I hunted 3 to 4 times a week for 9 months and collected 1500 pennies and 1500 nickles dimes and quarters. The grand total was $242.00.
1500 pennies is just 15 dollars. average of 15 cents per unit on the clad and you get 225 dollars.
I thought that was a record only ti find out others do 3 times that much.
I still get out three times a week and just manage maybe a hundred bucks a year.
Who has that much time to detect that they can hit some of these absurd clad numbers? Even if I was retired, I wouldn't have the time or interest in finding all that clad. Not to mention my arm would be hanging by a string and hands would be shot from digging so many plugs.
Just thinking about digging clad gets me lol
Amen, Bruce!

Why don't you take up golf Sell one more detector and you might get a nice set of Ping's
As a newbie, I will admit I was feeling extremely inadequate when I read about the huge clad amounts some people claim. I only get out a few times a month and the last couple of months I haven't been able to get out hardly at all. But since mid July I've gathered about $15 in clad. I just assumed these other people were hunting really hot spots several days a week. Thanks for this post. I don't feel like I'm slacking quite so much now.
