A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ROOKiE WATER HUNTERS

I have been suffering from swingers elbow but have been doing some exercises I got off the internet seems to have gotten a lot better but now my middle finger locks from time to time. Thanks Cliff for telling me I have trigger finger from squeezing the handle to tight I thought it was from my banjo picking!
Get the tennis elbow exercises off the net.
HH, phil

From personal experience, trigger finger is also a symptom of elbow injury. I have a blown out elbow joint, and bad trigger finger. To compensate for my bad right elbow, I use a Doc's Swingy Thingy. With that, I can swing my CTX w/17" coil for hours without pain.

I couldn't agree more with Earl about this.I hunt 2 hrs before low till 2 hrs after low tide in the water non stop. The only prob i have is my hand going numb gottaa stop and shake off, mmmmy hand once in a while. My arm shoulder elbow no problem what so ever.It is absolutely becaause my Xcall is mounted way out behind my elbow,it acts like a counter weight. When i first got,my GT i took it out first hunt and my arm was shot in no time.I modified my anderson shaft so my gt is mounted behind me ...Never had an issue again...Earls 100% on this one fellas:imo:

I'm looking into different setups to relocate it. I'm wondering how the chest mounts are.

George, take comfort that your injury is due to overindulgence of a leisurely activity.

My aches and pains are due to 60 plus hour work weeks since April. I got in maybe 4 hours detecting time total since I saw you last a couple months ago.

Seriously though take it easy and hope you get better soon.

I have seen

A lot of Excals mounted off the shaft, however the weak points are the cables, I would never do it, I have a cz20 chest mounted, the Cz21 and 20 are heavy, and I do recommend chest mounting them, behind the elbow is your best Excal option, I have a custom 45 inch carbon fiber Plugger strait shaft with a extended rear mount, used it Monday with OBN , balance was perfect, Earl

I never swung a chest mount but i would imagine the cables could be a pain until your used to it anyway.I would pretty much guarantee that if you went with the behind the elbow setup after u heal you would NEVER have a prob again.Just look at Earls Xcall in that pict. The batt and pod act as a counter wieght it builds up a kinda momentum..Hard to explain but if you had that setup...I seriously dubt you would be laid up right now.. Is there any beach pirates on this forum that use the behind the elbow setup that have fatigue issues?

Just a wasted post, it all stems from the CT gangs President , a hard titanium skulled ,old school under the cuff mount believer, un- Like myself willing to try different thing's, the CT gang will be swinging it with that set up , until there arm drop's off, I found when I requested an extended position was the perfect balanced set up for me on the Blue pictured, my others are behind the cuff, but not 3 .25 inches back - from the cuff to the start of the brain, like this one, finding are a perfect balanced machine, and no arm stress, its just like a scale, if the weight is under the cuff were will the stress be  http://www.bing.com/images/search?q...0B173A425E4D8E574DBF8EE71E45B&selectedIndex=0

Hey Earl... not all Ct hunters in our group use under the cuff... mine is above my elbow :D

Sorry to hear you're out of action Swinglow, you should add another S to your name as a constant reminder :ewink:
Hope you're back in the game soon brother  Downtime sucks.

I used to get bad carpal tunnel and still do if I hunt for 3-4 days straight. Get the odd back spasms if I'm over doing it too.
What I found helped me to reduce injury was drinking plenty of water.
Drinking coffee just doesn't do it.
Found from my hiking and climbing days that if I didn't or couldn't drink allot of water during the day I'd pay for it big time the next day.
When I'm hunting now I take a 2L bottle of water with me with the aim of finishing it before I leave the beach on a 5-8 hour hunt. I've just got into the habit of drinking water before I'm feeling thirsty. The way I look at it, feeling thirsty is like the oil light coming on in your car, not good.
2L works for me and my style of hunting but others might get by on less. Better to make a few more pit stops than blowing a motor.
Hope this helps.

WERE is the pick ? to be honest all I saw you swing was the GT, you picked up the blue after May, so really I have never saw your set up, or I don't remember seeing it, Earl Swinglow the Plugger carbon fiber 3 piece , made the way I wanted it was 185.00 shipped, not bad at all for a custom set up, the 2 piece might be cheaper, talk to William, great guy, ships UPS, order it Monday it will be in your hands Friday, he has a pay pal payment set up, through pay pal , he is in the process of building a new web site, I guess for the better, so give him a call, I believe he also makes a hip mount set up, if you want to risk the line pulling thing, but I do not recommend of the shaft mounts for Excaliburs

Here you go Earl... I see you don't protect your headphone wire.. Frank was kind enough to make me what he made for his Excal... all I had to do was cut it down and drill a hole for mounting it..

Yup... I always have a bottle of water with me... although it does weigh down my finds pouch which in turn pulls my pants down especially when the finds start adding up

Yep

That's just like my 800 set up, the machine front starts wright behind the cuff, I guess Swinglow & Captain Silver don't have there machine set up like yours ?, the head phone wire, if it breaks , I will go with OBN's Mods , A new set better, the blue phones are better than the yellow, but there are better waterproof phones out their, PS I think you had a under the cuff at 1st , than you changed to behind the cuff, correct ? On the carbon fiber 1000 Craig sense I got it further back, the head phone wire doesn't even pull, the coils of the wire, don't even spread, howboutit :D PS Craig No Knob Guard , protect your investment they are only 30.00 :yes::D
