i just wanted to kinda get this off my chest cause i have actually been losing some sleep over it.i am a"rather new detectorist"and i have found some good finds(i think)and posted pic's on here.EXP:the 1921 Morgan i found the other day.the city park that i found it at is about the size of a couple of football fields and once a year there is a thing called the Hwy 127 yard sale,it goes from kentucky to alabama and comes right through my town.well alot of venders set up shop at the park that i detect(by alot i mean hundreds).so after the 3-4 days are up that they are there i figured that would be a great spot for clad.i found the morgan dollar there plus some other little odd and end relics.ever sinse reading this post i've been paranoid thinking that people might think that i bought the Morgan and posted a pic.it was the very first silver coin i have found so far and it pretty much devistates me to think you fokls might believe i'm a lier.i do imagine a vendor dropped it a while back because it was down in the ground and not up on the surface.it did take some cleaning but not really alot and it is in very good condition.but anyway i just had to get this off my chest,i have no reason to lie about nothing and i hope its not me that some of you guys are refering to about posting FAKES,hell,if it is me be a grown up and just ask.sorry i sound so whiny but it does bother me.HHEver question whether all the wonderful finds we see on all the the different MD'ing forums of today are represented 100% accurately? After spending numerous hours on the forums I get a distinct feeling that many of these posts are inaccurate. Perhaps previous finds that are said to be dug yesterday, or maybe some pics of purchased coins or collections, etc.? Why would someone do such a thing? I dunno', perhaps for notoriety?
Just seems that there are many posts out there that are rather incredible in nature - consistent 100+ year old finds from rather new detectorists, to consistent and incredible finds at the same local tot lot week after week, to huge numbers of current clad whose pictures look like current pocket change, to maybe the same items used in multiple posts over different periods of time. Would be a real shame if this were true...
No whining and no ill feelings towards the fellow man, just thinking back to good lessons learned from Dad many eons ago saying "ya can't believe everything you read in the news..."
I believe this thread was started before you found the dollar.i just wanted to kinda get this off my chest cause i have actually been losing some sleep over it.i am a"rather new detectorist"and i have found some good finds(i think)and posted pic's on here.EXP:the 1921 Morgan i found the other day.the city park that i found it at is about the size of a couple of football fields and once a year there is a thing called the Hwy 127 yard sale,it goes from kentucky to alabama and comes right through my town.well alot of venders set up shop at the park that i detect(by alot i mean hundreds).so after the 3-4 days are up that they are there i figured that would be a great spot for clad.i found the morgan dollar there plus some other little odd and end relics.ever sinse reading this post i've been paranoid thinking that people might think that i bought the Morgan and posted a pic.it was the very first silver coin i have found so far and it pretty much devistates me to think you fokls might believe i'm a lier.i do imagine a vendor dropped it a while back because it was down in the ground and not up on the surface.it did take some cleaning but not really alot and it is in very good condition.but anyway i just had to get this off my chest,i have no reason to lie about nothing and i hope its not me that some of you guys are refering to about posting FAKES,hell,if it is me be a grown up and just ask.sorry i sound so whiny but it does bother me.HH
whewww, that makes me feel alot better,i didn't mean to cause such a stir.i was ready to get in contact with whoever takes care of this forum and see if they could take my morgan pic's off here somehow i was so paranoid.but i would NEVER DREAM of posting something that wasn't the hosnest truth, unless it was a joke that i was going to let be known.thanks guys!oh by the way,do they make anykind of med's for my paranoia BYE BYE and HH.
I've seen the posts I believe you are talking about. I also don't think a few old coins from before 1900 are all that uncommon to find in one outing in a good area. One fellow is hunting a demo site and in an old area, he dug several coins from that time period, nothing super old or valuable.
