Coin roll finds

Too bad for her, it's her job. Next time look straight at her and ask her "Is there a problem?" And I mean glare at her. Bank tellers are glorified cashiers, think they are above you. Trust me they are not. HH MJ

haha maybe i will. lol

Canada had a nickel from 1920 to 1937 that I find quite handsome in a funky art deco manner. If I'm lucky I may find a couple a year. The five cent pieces before and after that era were pumped out in much larger numbers and are far more common. I was talking to a guy at work once that was into coins. He told me that a few years ago he schmoozed a female teller that dug through the vault for him. She came out with several ROLLS of these nickels, and sold them to him at clad roll cost. I didn't know whether to fart, whistle or wind my watch when he said that ! On one hand there is a wonderful feeling of surprise, luck and even achievement when I find one. But on the other hand it still kind of choked me off when he told me this story.

HA HA now you are breaking into the real world of CRHing....if you can manage to hunt lots of rolls and not get discouraged cause you know the very next roll might be a big hit, then you have developed into a mature CRHer, not a nubie anymore! :D:yes:

KT runs through 5000 halves a week, usually every Thursday evening. He does not find it boring or a hassle...He just realizes to have a good hunt you have to put in your dues, and hunting lots of coins is the dues, baby!
:waiting:for my next hunt...tomorrow night!

You are doing great with dimes. I've been hitting 'em for over five years straight, and find one silver per $150 average. I find more silver now than when I was roll hunting around 1979-80. Many think the silver has dried up, it has not; there are millions of silver coins out there waiting to be found. Good luck!

Congrats! Good score. I too started out with a bang the first couple hundred dollars of dimes I went through. (a few rolls at a time) One time I think I got 40 bucks worth and got six silvers. Thought I was seeing things. Probably have went through 800 bucks worth since Im guessing with only an occasional score. What I was wondering was the good score I had must have been some remnants of what a customer cashed in? Now all of the rolls I get from this bank are bank wrapped or mint wrapped or whatever including some i have found two silvers in a roll. My question is do banks have these machines to wrap these or are they sent away or does it vary by bank? Seems odd all the silvers would have ended up in 40 dollars worth of dimes from all over the country?

The banks here will sometime roll small quantities of coin by hand. I've never seen a rolling machine and I've been in a lot of banks and CU's. Normally the coin is sent out to be rolled, and that is done locally, you aren't getting coins from all over the country, you are getting local coin. The coin is rolled by vendors such as Brinks.
