That is exactly what they say I have bulging disc in that reagion, had MRI and now in Pain and Torture with a follow up mid June. I wonder if they plan on doing surgery (military -- so I doubt it)

Does your metal detector or pin pointer pick up the metal in your neck? I have three rods in my left hand and my MD and Pro-Pointer does not pick them up. Could it be because they're titanium?

Neither my MD or Vibraprobe could pick it up. No clue why, glad its not just my machines!

the irony

Is many do not have insurance. One major visit to the hospital could wipe someones lifesavings and put them out on the street. Thank God you have it and your back is well.

Right on with insurance. My heart bypass was $75,000 - I paid 50 bux , Steve in so az

wow..that's a chunk of change. The facility I may be going to is 81k, not counting dr. charges and meds. Woman who does billing said "it's only a 26k down payment and the rest can be paid after you leave"....only 26k...glad wife's insurance is good.

yes I feel your pain..my cervical fusion cost $34,000 I owe $8,000 in co-pays.. maybe I could pay if they would approve me for SSD. I don't understand...I work for 30 years paying into SS but when I become disabled they fight me tooth and nail.... lets put this out there for them...
me working my job...$1000 a week
me collecting SSD...$800 a month

what do you think I would rather do?....EXACTLY!

This must be a detectorists curse as i have the same, back damage and legally totally and perminantly disabled after 5 years of fighting....they cant operate as its damaged in three areas, top, middle and bottom.

Detecting has helped me too, you can walk at your own pace and dont look silly, you can have a lean forward and same thing you dont look bad and even wear knee pads and tend to do soft ground and more fall to your knees then bend.

Even though i havnt had an operation the yearly costs of my therapy, meds and professional doctor bills cross more then $40k and if they could do something it would be in the $500k and above and thankfully i was covered by employee insurance at the time of the accident (at work so they have problems, not me)

glad i had it when i did

my wife left me and kids 2 weeks b4 surgery, said she didnt want to be married to a cripple, was a shock to me. insurance was through her work and paid it, i lost coverage months later. b4 surgery i had to use cane and sometimes wheel chair, syatic nerve was pinched in half, would loose all feeling in left leg and fall often, pain so intense i would almost pass out, now no more problems so far, a little sore once and awhile. good luck to ya.

There is a reason there are a lot of SSD lawyers out there.

yeh at 23% it is a scam ....they get 23% of your back pay(from when you filed) up to $6000...everyone gets a piece of me...except me. welcome to America.
neck fusion
pending lumbar surgery
severe carpal tunnel in both wrists
diagnosed with fibromyalgia
post concussion syndrome

in Michigan SS attorneys get 5%. It can be a pain to get approved. Not sure if it's a good thing or not, but it's been less than a year since I've applied and I'm already getting an appointment with the ALS judge at middle of summer.

Last year while I was working in Singapore, I developed sever back pain and called an orthopedic surgeon - that's the kind of access you have to medical care there. I got in that afternoon and an MRI confirmed that I ruptured two disks. The doctor wanted me to do the usual anti-inflammatory meds, pain reliever and bed rest. But after two days the pain got worse, and developed more pain down my right leg. I called him back and he told me to come to the hospital right away. I did.

I was seen in the ER, given morphine and then sent for an MRI and up to the ward. My doctor came in, told me the bad news, and I was scheduled for surgery the following day. Only then, did someone from billing approach me for insurance details! They actually put care ahead of billing!

The surgery was done in 4 hours, and I spend two days in the hospital. I was pain free as soon as I woke up, and have been able to get back into SCUBA diving and skiing.

The cost of this first-rate, government assisted health care: $12,500.

wow, My wife never made anywhere near one thousand a week and her ssd is much more than eight hundred a month, How could that happen? How would your ssd be so low on that earning income?:?:

hey clifftronics -- I'm really sorry to hear your story. That's really, really low of your ex-wife. I guess some people don't think about what they are saying when they take their vows..."better OR worse, sickness AND health..."

Sorry you had that happen to you; that's really a low blow -- to you AND your kids...

Steve

Glad that you are feeling better. if not too much of a hassle, ask for an itemized bill. True story alert*** I asked for an itemized bill when my daughter was born. I noticed a charge on there that was obviously not performed. I called the nurse and said I was billed for this procedure and it was not performed. She snippily said that if the charge was on there then it was performed. I then told her that see the charge for a CIRCUMCISION, (I had a daughter I remind you,) she told me that was performed the day after my DAUGHTER was born. I told her that they either cut too much off or they did not perform the procedure.

It was quickly removed from my bill.
