that alaska gold show

staged like Wells Fargo!

I watched it. Did any of you catch the part where it was stated that Todd missed a payment for the claim? That probably voided the agreement. I agree that they should have put a little effort into making it 'not so easy' for the new owner to get out the gold.

I caught that...he "forgot" to make the payment...oops! More like he couldn't pay the note.

That show is staged...but yet I still watch! Hmmmmm.

Most shows like that are staged. American Chopper pawn stars and even auction hunters.

But I don't think it is as staged as the others.

well there's another hour of my life i just wasted watchin this again

Dorise that red headed guy from the first season came out and told that it was a set up for tv its a fake show

I happen to love Gold Rush. If it was all scripted then they would they be pulling huge nuggets every show. Yes, sometimes reality are sometime lacking, but I find this show to be very interesting. Can't await for the next show.

Ya.. the first season they claim to have lost all their money.. and only found a small amount of gold. But if anybody was watching closely.. the only gold they showed was from the "clean outs" of the machine. They didn't show all the gold that was in the 500 buckets of black sand. Their machine to filter the black sand wasn't working. They still had all those buckets to sift through. I got turned off with their fake claims that they only found 18 oz.

Over heard a cell phone conversation on a train trip just after Thanksgiving. A producer of "reality" shows was discussing up coming show originating from Colorado. Mentioned a previous show about avalanche busting, where they fire howitzers to create mini-avalanches. Due to lack of snow fall, no firind was necessary BUT, because they had gone to all the trouble of hauling in equipment and manpower, had to get something on "film!"
Soooo, they "manufactured" a situation.
After watching all manner of "reality" shows, I have come to the conclusion, fiction is better.

.........and the "gold diggers", "bootleggers", "pawn stars", "oilmen", "pickers", give the human race a bad name.

If all they found were nuggets, there would be no "drama", no "arguing", no "fighting", and hundreds of people would be heading to Alaska, to find their fortune. Just ain't going to happen. :wow:

Love the show. However, all is not as it appears. I think they are real people (not actors) and they are real miners. However, for the Hoffmans, they've realized their cash cow is not so much the gold fields as it is the TV show. It is more important to keep the show going and interesting as it is to find lots of gold. Therefore, some situations are probably directed. No doubt the Dakota boys and the Hoffmans are friends, getting fame and fortune from the reality show.

The Big Nugget mine is probably the most realistic part of the show. Here's an interesting link to see what Porcupine Creek and Haines, Alaska was like before the show got as big as it is:

All scripted.

My son lives in Hollywood and is an actor/model and has went on several "auditions" for reality shows. One was to play Gene Simmons' daughter's boyfriend on their "reality" show!! lol One of his actor buddies was the curly blonde-haired guy that won on "Survivor" a few seasons back. Anyway, he tells me they're all scripted!! Oh, and btw, some are not actors, but says it is still scripted to make it more dramatic.

Hate to admit it, but I'm addicted to watching the show. It's funny how all these guys follow Todd up to AK, and he doesn't know a darn thing about mining. How many times do you here him say, "I guarantee..." followed by some claim how they'll find copious amounts of gold with there new, new plan or there new, new claim. I cringe when the "g" word comes out of his mouth, but somehow I still find myself hoping he'll pull his head out of the dark hole it's in and actually find some gold to pay his crew with.

I don't think it's necessarily scripted, but I think they hide what they want to from the cameras. I imagine they have to making some coin from the network. Otherwise, why bother? They're obviously not making enough to stay afloat from mining.

Yep, all you have to do is tap your hard hats together, talk about God, and fade the camera onto the American flag... That's how you mine for gold... I have to admit, I like the show, but like someone else said, it's mostly to watch the process. I will tell ya that with 15 years experience in heavy equipment maintenance there is no way in H... I would be that far away from access to parts with my equipment in that kind of shape! It would seem as though no one in the group had ever heard of preventative maintenance, and only one mechanically inclined fella on Todd's crew?? With a bad back to boot. Blown hoses and bad starters are one thing, but a gear drive going out? Bearings blown on tumblers? You have advance notice on that kind of stuff if you are paying attn. And I'd have to hang the guy who ran the dozer out of fuel..... I know it's staged but not as bad as lizard lick towing...

Thanks, Watching stupid people on TV makes me feel smart. .:?: But I think that may make me stupid....I'll have to think about this. :dumb:
Stupid peeople huh? I see you found 3 gold rings in 2012... Pretty sure any of these stupid people have found more gold than you have. So, keep thinking....LOL
