Hi just 3 of us?? Well I hope I did not buy the wrong detector Well I have had mine for a few months I like it I found some good coins mercs and silver rosies and of course clad..The detector is on the heavy side I think what about you guys??..I am working on the depth I feel its ok it reads coins down 5 inches mabye 6 (i did a test bed with coins and some jewels) I would be happy if I could get 8-10 inches but it might require a different coil I just have the stock one..Well nice to meet you guys...HH..john

I'm in ! I was thinking of getting an extra coil but like the stock 9.5" 5-6" on coins sounds about right. Although I've been running mine on 7sensitivity pretty much since the get go. Found a few things at the 11" range and larger items around 12".

I have the white 9.5" (old style "Super Deep Imaging" that you can only get from Garrett now), the black 9.5" epoxy coil (Standard) and the 12.5" black epoxy coil. I usually use the white 9.5" coil because it is very light. Swinging the 1500 with the 12.5" coil is a whole new ball game. It is very heavy! I have even wondered if the shaft could handle swinging the weight of the 12.5" coil! But the 12.5" coil will go 2-3" deeper than the 9.5" coil around here. And I had some good luck with the 12.5" at the high school here because it is a very clean area to hunt. But the added weight usually keeps it in the truck. The 9.5" seems to do a pretty good job.

hi fellow GTI users i've had my GTI 1500 since mid sept. of 2010 (before that i ran a gta 1000 off and on for 15 yrs.) and can say that getting the GTI was the best move i made. in the short 3 months of swingin it before it got crappy out i've found 60 bucks in clad, 3 small silver rings, 1898 barber dime,1942 quarter, 16 wheaties and a few tokens, then early this year pulled my first large cent with the GTI so i'm very happy so far with this machines performance and the "size imaging" has me spoiled. i mainly run the stock 9.5" coil and seem to have no proplem pulling coins out 5-8 inches deep and bigger targets deeper. at xmas the wife got me the 11x14 DD coil which i plan on using on some of the areas i already went over in the past, even tho i'll really miss the size imaging feature i also have the 5" excelerator coil but would recommend a stock garret sniper coil due to the fact that when i run the excelerator coil i don't get a depth reading on my display due to the fact the excelerator coil is an aftermarket coil. also recently i just ordered a sunray for my GTI and am anxious about using it this hunting season.

Sounds like a sweet setup you have there dogpound. I was thinking about a different coil, but I have been doing great with the stock 9.5 so I'm staying with it. The last part of this season I was using mine in shallow water and it was sweet ! I'm excited about Spring and being back at the beaches.
I would really like to have a duplicate setup.
