Greetings from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

I have been a Ham since 1990 and studied hard on the code and theory. I didn't have a background in either so it wasn't easy. I got lost in DX after all the upgrading and worked 322 countries on 6 through 160 meters. Got burned out badly on the DX and was non-active for a few years, but I keep my gear. Got back into the hobby in spring 2008. I now just rag chew on 1.950, 1,955, 1,945, 3,933 and 3,915. I got a Ten Tec Orion II in October 2008 and I really like it.

I was into detecting back in the days of the White's 5000D and 6DB. I was never to serious then and didn't have the patience to dig all the tabs, so I missed out finding a lot of good stuff. Got back into detecting in late March 2013 and found more jewelry in the first week this time than I did in 2 years 30 years ago. I bought a ACE 350 and it paid for itself in less than 3 weeks, but I was blessed with a wonderful location. I hope to have an E-Trac by years end.

Other hobbies and interest are guns, reloading, bullet casting, bear hunting, wood working and leather working.

I've been working in a GP Paper Mill since 1972 and my wife Debbie and I have been married since 1975 with one son J.W (Dub), 31 years old.

Hello everyone. Name's Carl. Been a Ham since .... ut ohhh... sometime about 1970 or thereabouts. I'll have to run back through the paperwork and see if I can get that straight. I got my license after I returned from a Viet Nam cruise and was stationed at NavCamsLant. Norfolk, Va. Anyway, code was easy, didn't figure I'd have trouble with the test so went downtown and took it. I was a Radioman in the Navy and was proficient to about 26 wpm. 24 solid. Today I'd stumble on 16. Lots of rust over the years. Most of the theory for General was basic knowledge to what I did in the Navy. Myself and a buddy both stopped in and took the test and passed. Good ole Doug, N4ATA out in Denver and we still keep in touch. Born in central MI, (Mt. Pleasant) live in Portsmouth, VA. Use Icom 706, listen more than anything. Hi y'all. Licensed in 2002 as kd5sbo, upgraded to General in Nov.2002. Vanity call k5teb granted Jul 2011. Work mostly qrp sideband with occasional cw. Rigs Ten Tec R4020 qrp cw, Ten Tec Argo 556 qrp, Ten tec Argosy 2 for my qro rig(50 watts.) Yeah, I like Ten Tec. Home brew my antennas. 10-40 meter twin-lead fed doublet and 10-20-40 meter clip dipole. Z100+ auto tuner. As the heat/humidity increases I'll probably do less md'ing and more radio. Well...I am not as advanced as you guys. I got my license in Dec. of 2001 (KD5QWL) and have had it since. I have to admit I am not very active in my HAM hobby. Only use 2 meter and even that is on rare occasions. My buddy Bob (W5ACE) got me started in the hobby in an effort to wean me away from 11 meter stuff. He didn't like CB's very much.

BTW, If anyone is interested in a practically new ICOM 2 meter I have one for sale. (Too much hobby stuff, too little time...AND not enough money! lol)

Advanced as in "years" Jesse? You're hitting low there....... real low... I don't do much 2 meter work myself. But you might mention which radio it is. Good hunting.

My Wife is also ham which see became one around 2008. She also upgraded to Extra the same time as me.

I enjoy UHF FM mostly while driving around and get in HF every so often Mostly 20M SSB. Chase DX.

My name is Tom, and my call is KJ4FUU. I have been a ham since 8/2008, when I passed the Technician and General tests, and the upgraded to Extra a few months later in the year. I have managed to bungle my way through 8 CW contacts now, including working PJ6A during the CQ WW Prefix contest, but most of my operations are still SSB.

I am currently the president of the Alexandria Radio Club, a position I got because I was the one who least didn't want the job.

I have attended 2 testing sessions as a VE.

When I have time, I like to build kits. Most of the time, I'm operating QRP on the HF bands, using a Yaesu FT817ND. I several 2m mobile radios, and I'm currently using a Yaesu FT212H to check into the nets. I have handhelds covering 6m, 2m, 1.25m, 70cm, 33cm, and 23cm, including a D-STAR dual bander.

hello everyone am a newer ham op got my ticket in nov. 2011 and have beat myself up getting that extra call lol.
and also got into md just about the same time i'm a icom and yaesu guy and my detector is a ace 250 . qth is grantsville, md.

and dirty genu you are almost spot on for my hobbies all but the bear hunting but i do hunt alot but i love sq hunting with dogs .

Name's Fred, call is KS1USA. Handheld is a Yaesu FT-60, Mobile is an Alinco DR-605, and if I want to reach out and touch someone I use a Yaesu FT-950.

I've been a ham for about 7 years, but have been swinging the same metal detector, a White's Coinmaster IV, for 40 years. No bells or whistles, but it's a work horse.

Brag tape--Currently owned rigs: Yaesu FT-1000D, FT-1000MP/Mark V, Kenwood TS-2000, Icom IC-7000, Drake TR-7, Heathkit HW-8 and a few more I haven't used it years on HF. Amps include: Ameritron AL-1200, AL-811H with 572B tubes. I am a contester, SSB and CW mostly. Umpteen VHF/UHF mobile rigs including a few DStar rigs--IC-2820, IC-800H, IC-2200H. 8 Handheld multiband radios including IC91AD and IC92AD. My wife wants to call the Hoarders folks on me.
Metal detecting since 1998 with a White's Spectrum XLT. Did a lot the first year and then set it aside for 15 years. Just getting back into it after getting my LCD display replaced. Just purchased the new White's Bullseye TRX pinpointer. Really nice addition to my MD'ing.
Semi-retired right now and getting out when the weather is good.
