Has anyone ever had their XLT converted to a hipmount, and if so, how did it work?

I thought about doing the hip mount. But, when I removed the box, the shaft and coil, felt unbalanced. I put it back on and gave up on the idea. My wife will now be using the xlt for the most part. She too is happy with the balance of the unit w/box attached. GL

I had the front locking lug break off of my XLT so bought a hipmount kit for it.
It's a little bothersome to strap on the unit with a belt but once I do that it's comfortable to use and is very light.
